Guwahati High Court- has jurisdiction over Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh.

Kolkata High Court has the territorial Jurisdiction over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands while Chandigarh comes under the Jurisdiction of Punjab and Haryana High Court. Delhi has its own High Court while Puducherry comes under the Jurisdiction of Chennai High Court and Lakshadweep comes Funder the Jurisdiction of Kerala High Court.

Mumbai High Court has its Jurisdiction over more than one State or Union Territories. It has Jurisdiction over the States of Maharashtra and Goa, and Union Territory of Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

According to Article 174 (2), the Governor of that State prorogues the Vidhan Sabha.

The Judge of the High Court submits his resignation letter to the President of India.

The power to issue writs is given to Supreme Court under Article 32 and High Court under Article 226 to issue a writ of Habeas Corpus, Mandamus, Prohibition, Quo Warranto, and Certiorari. The power of Supreme Court to issue writs is limited to Part III of the Constitution, but the High Court has right to issue writs for enforcement of any of the rights conferred in Part III and for any other purpose (Legal Rights).

Goa is the only State of India to have the Common Civil Code. Goa Civil Code is based on Portuguese Civil Code (Codigo Civil Portugues) of 1867 which was introduced in Goa in 1870 with some modification.

A judge of a High Court may also be removed like a judge of the Supreme Court. A judge of High Court may be removed by the President if the Parliament passes a motion against him by an absolute majority and 2/3rd majority of the members present and voting, both the Houses sitting separately.

The judges of the High Court are paid such salaries as specified in the Second schedule. They are also entitled to such allowances in respect of leave and pension as Parliament may determine from time to time. Article 221 of constitution of India provides that the salaries, allowances and pensions are charged on the Consolidated Fund of India.

The apex body of the judiciary of Andaman and Nicobar Islands is a circuit bench of the Kolkata High Court that operates from Port Blair.
