Essential Educational Qualification

SSC CHSL Examination Scheme

SSC CHSL Tier I Exam Scheme

Tier I of the examination will consist of only objective-type multiple-choice questions. A deduction of 0.50 marks will be made for each incorrect answer.

Examination Scheme For SSC CHSL Tier II 

Tier II SSC CHSL examination is conducted in two sessions and has a total of three sections. It further includes two modules in each section.

  • It is mandatory to qualify for all the sections of the SSC CHSL Tier II examination. 
  • There will be a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section I, Section II, and Module 1 of Section III.

Important Information Regarding Skill Test/ Typing Test

  • The Skill or Typing Test in the CHSL examination will be of a qualifying nature and evaluated as per the evaluation guidelines of the Commission. 
  • Errors in the skill test will be calculated up to 2 decimal places.

Skill Test for Data Entry Operator

This test is mandatory for Data Entry Operators. No candidate will be exempted from appearing in the test. 

Part A - Skill Test for the post of DEO/ DEO Grade 'A’ in Department/ Ministry:

The speed of 15,000 Key Depressions per hour on the computer will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/ key depressions as per the given passage. The duration of the Test will be 15 minutes and printed matter in English containing about 3,700 to 4,000 key depressions will be given to each candidate and they need to enter the same in the computer. The passage to be entered into the computer may also be displayed on the computer screen.

Part B - Skill Test for the post of DEO/ DEO Grade 'A’ except in Department/ Ministry:

Data Entry Speed of 8,000 Key Depressions per hour on the computer will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/ key depressions as per the given passage. The duration of the Test will be 15 minutes and printed matter in English containing about 2,000 to 2,200 key depressions will be given to each candidate and they need to enter the same in the computer. 

Typing Test For Other Posts- Junior Secretariat Assistant and Lower Divisional Clerk
  • The medium of the typing test will be Hindi or English. You need to opt for the medium of this test in the online application form. 
  • The choice of your medium will be treated as final and no change in it will be permitted later. 
  • If you opt for the English medium, then your typing speed should be 35 words per minute. Opting for Hindi medium requires a speed of 30 words per minute. 
  • Your speed should correspond to about 10,5000 key depressions per hour and about 9,000 key depressions per hour respective to the chosen medium. 
  • The speed will be adjudged on the accuracy of typing on the computer of a given text passage in 10 minutes.
