SSC CHSL Exam Mode Of Selection

On the basis of the different reservation categories, the minimum qualifying marks for the SSC CHSL Tier 1 and Tier 2 exams are decided. These marks are as follows:

  • Unreserved: 30%
  • Other Backward Classes / Economically Weaker Section: 25%
  • All Other Categories: 20%
  • You will be shortlisted for the Tier 2 examination on the basis of your performance in the Tier 1 examination. Scores will be normalized and used to determine merit and final selection.
  • In the Tier 2 examination, all the candidates will be required to appear in all three sections. 
  • Based on the aggregate performance in Section I and Section II of the Tier 2 examination, you will be shortlisted for evaluation in Section III of the Tier 2 examination. 
  • Both modules i.e. Computer Knowledge Test and Skill Test/ Typing Test in Section III of Tier 2 are qualifying in nature. Skill Test for DEOs is mandatory for all the qualified candidates. Typing Tests for posts other than DEOs is compulsory for all candidates except those who are exempted from appearing in it.
  • Preference for various posts and departments will be taken from you through the Online Option Form on the website of the Commission before the declaration of the final result. 
  • You will not be considered for a Post and Ministry/ Department/ Organization if you have not indicated your preference for it. After the submission of options, they will be treated as final and cannot be changed subsequently under any circumstances. 
  • The merit list will be prepared on the basis of the overall performance of candidates in the Tier 2 examination only and as per the qualifying standards fixed by the Commission. 
  • Your final selection, in each category, will be made on the basis of your overall performance in the Tier 2 examination and your preference of posts exercised by you. Once you have been given your first available preference, as per your merit, you will not be considered for any other option. 
  • You are, therefore, required to exercise your preference for posts very carefully. The option/ preference once exercised by you will be treated as Final and Irreversible. Subsequent requests for change of allocation/ service by you will not be entertained under any circumstances.
