Process Of Admission For The Undergraduate Entrance Examination
Here are all the details that you must know once you have cleared the exam and are shortlisted for the interview. The interview panel ranks the qualified candidates (those found appropriate during the interview) according to how well they performed during the interview.
Rounds Of Seat Allotment
- There are several rounds in the seat-allotment procedure.
- Only qualifying candidates may be assigned to seats.
- An applicant has a deadline in each round to either accept the seat by paying the required costs or decline it; if you are satisfied with the program you have been assigned, you can lock the seat.
- A seat will be considered denied by you if you do not accept and pay for it by the deadline.
- You may proceed to the next round if you are not assigned a seat in a certain round. To advance to the following phase, you must, nevertheless, consent. To proceed to the second and subsequent rounds, a one-time payment of INR 10,000 is needed for seat allocation and INR 10,000 as a tuition fee in advance.
Tuition Fee For Dual Degree Programs
- INR 4,50,000 for the 2025–2026 academic year.
- The additional costs for the hostel and mess will be comparable to those for other students at the institution.
- Payment of the Initial fee: On or before the acceptance dates specified with the seat allocation, candidates who have been assigned a seat must confirm their acceptance of the seat by paying the tuition fee for one semester.
- The first-semester tuition price of INR 2,25,000 and the non-refundable admission fee of INR 10,000 must be paid online using the payment site.
One Seat Allotment Policy
- You may apply for more than one IIIT admission method and select more than one program of interest; however, you may only accept, pay for, and retain one seat in one of the admission methods of one of the programs.
- Acceptance of Seats in Different Modes: If a candidate receives a seat in one admission mode X (e.g. UGEE), accepts it, and pays for it, and then receives a seat in another mode Y (e.g. JEE), they can only accept and pay for the latter seat after abandoning or cancelling the previously accepted seat in mode X (UGEE). The candidate can then take part in any subsequent rounds of mode Y, but they will no longer be eligible for any more rounds of mode X.
- Acceptance of Seats Across Institutes: You may submit applications to more than one institute. However, as the ideal opportunity for those seats becomes inaccessible to others, we highly discourage you from accepting, paying for, and holding onto many seats. Only after the seat at another institute, if any, has been cancelled are you encouraged to accept and pay for a seat at one institute.
The above knowledge serves as the foundation for the counselling process, seat acceptance, cancellation, and refund rules.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
- By choosing the cancel seat option in the application section, you can cancel your seat assignment at any point prior to reporting to the institute. Refunds will be issued based on the date of cancellation, seat allocation round, and proof that just one seat was held. A copy of a legitimate admission offer letter from another institution with a date later than the offer being revoked must be uploaded by you in order to accomplish this.
- The refund amount in the event of a seat cancellation will be determined by the cancellation deadlines for the round in which an applicant was first offered a seat and accepted. This is the case whether (a) the seat that was first offered and accepted was in the applicant's program of greatest preference, or (b) the applicant was upgraded to a seat in a program of higher priority in a subsequent round.
Examples of a Refund
- Assume that an applicant has the following program preferences: [A, B, C] in that order.
- Assume that the candidate was not selected for a seat in Round 1.
- Assume the candidate accepts the position they were given in Program B during Round 2. The applicant will thereafter be subject to the Round 2 cancellation dates and reimbursement amounts.
- Let's say the candidate accepts an offer to upgrade to Program A in Round 3. However, the applicant will still be subject to the Round 2 cancellation dates and reimbursement amounts.
- The reimbursement amount is the same as stated for Round 2 (not Round 3) on the date of cancellation if the applicant cancels their seat.
Some Important Notes
- The number of admission rounds that will be held depends on how many seats are available.
- Following the last round, seat assignments are final. Even if there are seats that are not occupied, upgrading is not allowed.
- Depending on the number of seats available and the number of acceptances following a round, the institute reserves the authority to hold additional rounds of seat allocation.
- Your admission will be revoked if you are unable to achieve the eligibility requirements by securing less than that is specified minimum in Class 12.
- You can only accept a seat in JEE mode after giving up your previously accepted UGEE mode seat if you accept a seat in UGEE mode first. Furthermore, even if the JEE method is not your top choice, you will have to take the seat the first time it is provided.
Undergraduate Entrance Examination Analysis
For your reference, we have done the difficulty level analysis of this exam for the past few years and have described it in the table below.
Year | Overall Difficulty | SUPR (Subject Proficiency) | REAP (Research Aptitude) | Detailed Analysis |
2025 | Moderate (slightly easier than 2024) | Easy to Moderate | Moderate to Difficult | Chemistry was easy and Maths manageable. SUPR was rated easier than in 2024. REAP had a few lengthy and logic-heavy questions that required deep thinking and time management |
2024 | Moderate | Moderate | Moderate | The pattern was similar to past years, but some students reported time pressure in the REAP section. The questions in SUPR matched the JEE Mains level. There were no major surprises in the paper. |
2023 | Moderate to Difficult | Moderate (JEE Mains level) | Difficult | The SUPR section was quite predictable and manageable. REAP had some unexpected logic-based and language puzzles. The reasoning section tested deep problem-solving and was time-consuming. Many found the REAP section more unpredictable than expected. |
2022 | Difficult | Moderate to Difficult | Very Difficult | The REAP section this year was quite difficult. In this, the questions were abstract, logic-heavy, and required advanced reasoning. Students reported that even high JEE scorers found parts of the test difficult. |
2021 | Easy to Moderate | Easy | Easy to Moderate | Many students felt this was one of the easier UGEE years. SUPR had straightforward questions, and REAP did not contain complex reasoning problems. Most questions were solvable with basic preparation. |
