S1: Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was an Indian philosopher and statesman who served as the president of the nation from 1962 to 1967.
S6: He embarked on an academic career and with time established himself as one of India's most distinguished 20th century scholars of comparative religion and philosophy.
P: Born into a poor Brahmin family in southern India, he grew up to be an intelligent and bright boy with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge.
Q: Prior to this, he had served as the first Vice President of India from 1952 to 1962.
R: But the young Radhakrishnan excelled in his studies and attended the Madras Christian College on a scholarship and graduated with a master's degree in philosophy.
S: His conservative father did not want the boy to learn English and hoped that he would become a priest.

    Solutions

The sentence Q should follow S1 since the sentence S1 tells about Radhakrishnan’s profession from 1962-1957 and Q tells about his profession from 1952-1962. The next sentence should be P as it introduces another fact of Dr S. Radhakrishnan. The sentence S should follow P as it tells that though he was an intelligent boy, his father did not want him to learn English. The sentence R further adds to the fact that despite his father wanted him to be a priest, he excelled in his studies and graduated with a master's degree in philosophy.

Therefore, the correct order of sentences is option B i.e. QPSR.
