In this question two equations I and II are given. You have to solve both the equations and choose the right option.
I. x2 + 28x + 192 = 0
II. y2 + 19y + 88 = 0
x2 + 28x + 192 = 0 y2 + 19y + 88 = 0
x2 + 16x + 12x + 192 = 0 y2 + 11y + 8y + 88 = 0
x (x + 16) + 12 (x + 16) = 0 y (y + 11) + 8 (y + 11) = 0
x = –12, –16 y = –11, –8
∴ x < y
I. x2 = 729
II. y =
x2 = 729 y =
x = ± 27 y = 27
∴ x ≤ y
What should come in place of question mark (?)

The students in the three classes are in the ratio 3 : 5 : 7 If 10 students are increase in each class. The ratio changes to 5 : 7 : 9, originally the total number of students was–
Let the number of students are respectively 3x, 5x and 7x.
∴
x = 5
∴ total number of students = 5 × (3 + 5 + 7) = 75
If a number x is 35% less than another number y and y is 25% more than 136, then x is equal to–
A will reach his destination at 4 pm if he travels at 20 km/hr. He will reach there at 1 pm if he travels at 25 km/hr. At what speed he should travel to reach there at 2 pm?
The sum of the digits of a two digit number is 9. If the digits are reversed, the number is decreased by 45. Find the number.
Let the number is 10x + y.
∴ 10x + y – 45 = 10y + x
9x – 9y = 45
x – y = 5 ... (1)
x + y = 9 ... (2)
from eq. (1) & (2)
x = 7, y = 2
∴ Number = 72
