The battle of plassey was a decisive victory of the British East India Company over the Nawab of Bengal and his French allies on June 1757. The battle took place at Plassey on the banks of Bhagirathi river in Calcutta. The belligerants were Nawab Siraj-ud-daulah, the last independent Nawab of Bengal and the British East India company. The Black Hole of Calcutta was a small dungeon in the Old Fort Willium in Calcutta where troops of the Nawab of Bengal, Siraj-ud-daulah, held British prisoners of war after the capture of the fort on 20 June, 1756.
