If in country E population of males above poverty line is 32670, then what is the population of males below poverty line in that country?

    Solutions

Let the population of country E be x

∴ the above poverty line population will be 0.9x

The M : F ratio of above poverty line in country E is 3 :2

    No. of males above poverty line in E = 3/5 × 0.9x = 32670

    ⇒ x = 32670 × 5/3 × 10/9

    ⇒ x = 60500

    ∴ Below poverty line population of country E = 0.10 × 60500 = 6050

The M: F ratio in below poverty line population in E is 6: 5

    ∴ Number of males below poverty line in E = 6/11× 6050 = 3300

If the population of males below poverty line in country D is 2106, then what is the total population of that country?

    Solutions

Let the population of country D be x

Thus the below poverty line population will be 0.26x

    The M: F ratio of BPL in country D is 1: 2

    ∴ Number of males in BPL in country D = 1/3 × 0.26x = 2106

    ∴ x = 2106 × 0/0.26

    ∴ x = 24300

∴ The total population of country D is 24300

If the population of females below poverty line in country B is 2275 and that of males above poverty line in country F is 3536, then what is the ratio of the total population of country B and F?

    Solutions

Let the total population of B be x

The below poverty line of B will be 0.15x

    Out of this, the ratio of M: F is 5 : 7

    ⇒ y = 11700

    ∴ required ratio = 26000:11700 = 20:9

If the total population of C and E together is 19556, then what is the total no. of females above poverty line in the above countries?

    Solutions

Since we do not know what proportion C and D have in the total population, We cannot find their individual populations and thus the total number of females below poverty line.

    Thus the data is inadequate

The total population of country A is 36225, and then what is the number of males above poverty line in country A?

    Solutions

The Below poverty line population of A is 12 percentage

    ∴ Above poverty line population = 88/100 × 36225

    ∴ Above poverty line population = 31878

The male: female ratio in A in above poverty line is 4: 3

Let the common multiple be x

    ∴.4x + 3x = 31878

    ∴ 7x = 31878

    ∴ x = 4554

    ∴ Total number of males above poverty line in A = 4 × 4554 = 18216
