What is the speed of man?

    I. A 240 m long train cross a man running in opposite direction in 6 sec.

II. The train crossed a 260 m long plate from in 20 second.

    Solutions

    Speed of train  = 500/20 = 25m/s

    25 + x = 240/6

    x = 40 − 25 = 15m/s

A can do a piece of work alone in 20 days and B can do the same work in 30 days. While C and D together can do the same work in 15 days? In how many days the remaining work will be completed?

    I. If A, B, C and D can do the work together for 5 days and remaining work done by C:

II. If A, B, C and D can do the work together for 5 days and remaining work done by A.

    Solutions

From statement I, cannot be determine because work completed by C alone cannot be given.

From statement II. Let total work LCM of 20, 30 and 15 =60 units.

    Work completed by A in one day =  60/20 = 3 units

    Work completed by B in one day =  60/30 = 2 units

Work completed by C and D together in one day = 60/15 = 4 units

    Work completed by A, B, C and D together in one day = 3 + 2 +4 =9 units

    Work completed by A, B, C and D together in 5 days =5 x 9 =45 unts

    Remaining work = 60 -45 =15 units.

    Remaining work completed by A =  15/3 = 5 days

Find the number of girls in the college as in a College there are 1800 students. Last day except 4% of the boys all the students were present in the college. Today except 5% of the girls all the students are present in the college, but in both the days number of students present in the college, were same.

    Solutions

let Number of girls = 800
    Number of boys = 1000
    96% of 1000 + 800 = 95% of 800 + 1000[satisfies the condition; Check the condition with other options also]

How many days Anshul will take to do the work as Anshul, Bhawna, and Cheshta together can do a piece of work in 40 days and after working together Anshul, Bhawna and Cheshta for 16 days, Anshul leaves and then Bhawna and Cheshta complete the remaining work in 40 days more.

    Solutions

Let work done by (Anshul+Bhawna+Cheshta) in per day=1 unit

Total work done by (Anshul+Bhawna+Cheshta) in 40 day=40 unit

Total work done by (Anshul+Bhawna+Cheshta) in 16 day=16 unit

    Now,

    Remaining work=40-16=24 unit

work done by Bhawna and Cheshta in 40 days =24 unit

work done by Bhawna and Cheshta in 1 day  =24/40 = 0.6 unit

    Efficiency of Anshul=Eff. of(Anshul+Bhawna+Cheshta) - Eff. of (Bhawna+Cheshta)

    = 1 - 0.6=0.4 unit per day

    Time taken by Anshul = 40/0.4 = 100 days

How much distance will the cylinder cover in 9 seconds as a cylinder whose base of circumference is 6 m can roll at a rate of 3 rounds per second.

    Solutions

    Distance covered in one round  =2 × π × r = 6 m

    Distance covered in 1 second = 3 x 6 = 18 m

    So distance covered in 9 seconds = 18×9= 162m
