  • Question 1/10
    1 / -0

    If the ratio of the length of train A to train B is 7:8 and train A crosses the 120 m long bridge in 24 seconds. Train B crosses the Car running in opposite direction at the speed of 80 kmph in 8 seconds. What is speed of train B?

    Solutions

    Let the speed of A and B is A, B respectively.

    The ratio of the length of train A to train B = 7: 8

    Train A crosses the 120 m long bridge in 24 seconds

    So,

    7x +120 =  A* 5/18 * 24

    7x +120 = A * 20/3 ----- (1)

    Train B crosses the Car running in opposite direction at the speed of 80 kmph in 8 seconds

    So,

    8x = ( B + 80) * 5/18 * 8

    8x = ( B + 80) * 20/9 ------(2)

    We can’t solve both equations.

  • Question 2/10

    A shopkeeper buys 20 Watches at the marked price of 18 Watches from a wholesaler. If he sells these watches giving a discount of 5%, then what is the approximate profit percentage?

    Solutions

    20 * 95/100 = 18 * (x - 100)/100

    X - 100=105.55%

    Profit=5.55%

  • Question 3/10
    1 / -0

    A can complete the work in 5 days less than that of B while C can complete the work in 4 days less than that of A. If A and B together can complete the work in same time as time taken by C alone, then what is the time taken by A alone complete the work?

    Solutions

    B=x

    A=x – 5

    C=x – 5 – 4=x – 9

    1/x + 1/x – 5=1/ x -9

    (x – 5 + x) / (x (x – 5))=1/ (x - 9)

    (2x -5)(x – 9)=x2 – 5x

    2x2 – 18x – 5x + 45 = x2 – 5x

    x2 – 18x + 45 =0

    x = 15 or 3

    x= 15 means, A =15 – 5= 10 days

    x=3 means, A got negative value so it neglected.

    The area of the circle is 616 cm2 and the height of the cone is 10 cm more than that of the radius of the circle. If the radius of the cone is 7 cm, what is the length of the cone?

    Solutions

    22/7 * r * r=616

    Radius of the circle=14 cm

    Height of the cone=14 + 10=24 cm

    Length of the cone=√24 + 72 =25 cm

    A got the mark in Science, Maths, English, Hindi and Physics is 96, 108, 100, 78 and 101 respectively. A scored 84% marks in all the subjects together and the maximum mark of each subject is equal. What is the maximum mark of each subject?

    Solutions

    Total maximum marks=(96 + 108 + 100 + 78 + 101)/84 * 100=575

    Maximum marks of each subject=575/5=115

  • Question 6/10
    1 / -0

    Each question contains two quantities as Quantity I and Quantity II. Read the contents clearly and answer your questions accordingly.

    Quantity I: The compound interest accrued in two years on amount of Rs.2016 is Rs.1400. What is the rate of interest per annum?

    Quantity II: The difference between the simple interest compound interest on the amount Rs.2000 for 2 years is Rs.80. What is the rate of interest per annum?

    Solutions

    From quantity I,

    2016=1400 * (1 + R/100)2

    144/100=(100 + R/100)2

    12/10=100 + R/100

    R=20%

    From quantity II,

    80=2000 * R * R/100 * 100

    R=20%

    Quantity I = quantity II

  • Question 7/10
    1 / -0

    Each question contains two quantities as Quantity I and Quantity II. Read the contents clearly and answer your questions accordingly.

    Quantity I: 3 women and 18 men together can complete the work in 2 days. If six women alone can complete the work in 3 days, in how many days 9 men can complete the work?

    Quantity II: 2 men and 10 women can complete the work in 8 days. If 8 men alone can complete the work in 6 days, then in how many days 10 women alone can complete the work?

    Solutions

    From quantity I,

    6 women=1/3

    Woman=1/18

    3/18 + 18 men=1/2

    18 men=1/2-1/6

    18 men=1/3

    Man=1/54

    9 men=9/54=1/6

    9 men complete the work in 6 days

    From quantity II,

    8 men=1/6

    Man=1/48

    2/48 + 10 women=1/8

    10 women=1/8 – 1/24

    10 women=1/12

    10 women complete the work in 12 days

    Quantity I < quantity II

  • Question 8/10
    1 / -0

    Each question contains two quantities as Quantity I and Quantity II. Read the contents clearly and answer your questions accordingly.

    Quantity I: A shopkeeper sold the article for Rs.6384 and incurred the loss of 30%. What price he should sold the article to have 30% profit?

    Quantity II: A shopkeeper incurred the loss of 55% on selling the watch for Rs.4770. What is the cost price of watch?

    Solutions

    From quantity I,

    CP =6384 * 100/70=9120

    SP =9120 * 130/100=Rs.11856

    From quantity II,

    CP =4770/45 * 100=Rs.10600

    Quantity I > quantity II

  • Question 9/10
    1 / -0

    Each question contains two quantities as Quantity I and Quantity II. Read the contents clearly and answer your questions accordingly.

    Quantity I: A car covers the distance of 420 km at the speed of 60 kmph. If the speed of the bike is 20 kmph less than the speed of car and the bike takes to cover x km distance in 3 hours more than that taken by car. What is the value of x?

    Quantity II: If the speed of the car is 120% of the speed of the truck and the ratio of the speed of the truck to bike is 3:4. If bike covers 320 km in 4 hours, then how much distance would car cover in 6 hours?

    Solutions

    From quantity I,

    Time taken by car=420/60 = 7 hours

    Speed of bike=60 – 20=40 kmph

    Total time taken by bike=7 + 3=10 hours

    Distance=40 * 10=400 km

    From quantity II,

    Speed of the bike=320/4 =80 kmph

    Speed of truck=3/4 * 80=60 kmph

    Speed of car=120/100 * 60=72 kmph

    Distance covered by car=72 * 6=432 km

    Quantity I< quantity II

  • Question 10/10
    1 / -0

    Each question contains two quantities as Quantity I and Quantity II. Read the contents clearly and answer your questions accordingly.

    Quantity I: The average weight of 20 persons group is 74.5 kg. If Rahul left the group, the average weight is reduced by 0.5 kg, and then what is the weight of Rahul?

    Quantity II: If the radius of the sphere to circle is 2:1 and the surface area of the sphere is 2464 cm. What is the circumference of the circle?

    Solutions

    From quantity I,

    Rahul weight=74.5 + 19 (0.5)=84 kg

    From quantity II,

    2464 = 4* 22/7 * r * r

    Radius of the sphere=14 cm

    Radius of the circle=1/2 * 14=7 cm

    Circumference of the circle=2 * 22/7 * 7=44 cm

    Quantity I > quantity II
