  • Question 1/10
    1 / -0

In each of the following questions, relationship between different elements is shown in the statements. These statements are followed by two conclusions.

    P > Q ≥ R > S ; R < T < U

    Conclusion I: P > U

    Conclusion II: S < T

    Solutions

    The given statement is
    P > Q \geq R > S; R < T < U
P is greater than Q which is greater than or equal to R. Hence P is definitely greater than R. T is less than or equal to R and U is greater than T. Hence we cannot comment on the relationship between R and U. Thus, we cannot compare P and U. Hence I is not implied.
R is greater than S and T is greater than R. Hence T is definitely greater than S. Hence conclusion II is implied.

  • Question 2/10
    1 / -0

In each of the following questions, relationship between different elements is shown in the statements. These statements are followed by two conclusions.

    P < Q ≥ R > S ; Q ≤ T = U

    Conclusion I: R ≤ U

    Conclusion II: P < T

    Solutions

    The given statement is
    P < Q ≥ R > S ; Q ≤ T = U
R is less than or equal to Q and Q is less than or equal to T. Hence R is less than or equal to T. Moreover, T is equal to U. Thus R must be less than or equal to U. Hence I is implied.
P is less than Q and Q is less than or equal to T. Hence P is definitely less than T. Thus, conclusion II is also implied.

  • Question 3/10
    1 / -0

In each of the following questions, relationship between different elements is shown in the statements. These statements are followed by two

    conclusions.E > F ≤ G = H > I; H > J ≥ K < L

    Conclusion I: E < K

    Conclusion II: F > J

    Solutions

    The given statement is
    E > F ≤ G = H > I ; H > J ≥ K < L
E is greater than F and F is less than or equal to G which is equal to H. Hence E is definitely less than H. J is less than H and K in turn is less than J. Hence K must be less than H. Thus, we cannot compare E and K. Thus, I is not implied.
F is less than or equal to H and J is also less than H. Hence we cannot compare F and J. Hence, II is also not implied.

  • Question 4/10
    1 / -0

In each of the following questions, relationship between different elements is shown in the statements. These statements are followed by two

    conclusions.A > B ≤ C < D ; C ≥ E >F > G

    Conclusion I: B < F

    Conclusion II: D > G

    Solutions

    Given statement is A > B ≤ C < D ; C ≥ E > F > G
B is less than or equal to C and F is less than C. Hence we cannot compare B and F. Thus, I is not implied.
D is greater than C and C is greater than G. Hence D is definitely greater than G. Thus, conclusion II is implied.

    Directions For Questions

Five friends Arun, Bharath, Chandra, Druv and Eman are sitting on a bench facing North.

The following additional information is also known:

    i) Bharath is sitting adjacent to Chandra.

ii)Arun is sitting in one of the extreme ends.

iii) Chandra is not sitting to the left of Eman.

iv) There is one person sitting between Arun and Druv.

    ...view full instructions

Who is sitting to the immediate left of Chandra ?

    Solutions

From sentences ii) and iv) the following two arrangements are possible:
    I. A _ D _ _ II. _ _ D _ A
From sentence i) B and C are adjacent, thus E should be present between A and D. Thus, the arrangement becomes
    I. A - E - D - B/C - C/B II. B/C - C/A - D - E - A
But from sentence iii) C is sitting to the right of E. Therefore only arrangement I is possible.
Thus, the possible arrangements are :
    A - E - D - B - C and A - E - D - C - B
We can see that 2 combinations are possible in which different person is sitting on the left of C. Thus, the answer is cannot be determined.
