Required Sum=155 + 119=274
A boat can travel upstream and covers a distance of 120 km in 10 hours. If the speed of the stream is 4 kmph, then what is the time taken by the boat to travelthe same distance in the downstream?
Speed of upstream=120/10= 12 kmph
Given that, Speed of stream= 4 kmph
Then, Speed of boat in still water=12 + 4 =16 kmph
Speed of downstream= 16 + 4=20 kmph
Required Time=120/20 = 6 hours
Ram expected 50% profit when he sells the shirts at the marked price. But during the delivery to wholesaler 20% of the shirts are completely damaged and it could not be sold. 25% of the shirts are slightly damaged and it sold at 80% of the cost price. The remaining shirts are sold at the marked price. What is the profit percentage of the whole transaction?

Then, MP=x * 150/100=3x/2
SP=55/100 * 3x/2 + 25/100 * x * 80/100
=0.825x + 0.2x
=1.025x
Profit=1.025x – x =0.025x
Profit %=0.025x/x *100=2.5%
A and B started the business with investment of Rs.2500 and Rs.1500 respectively. After 4 months C joined with Rs.2000 and B added Rs.1000 to his initial investment. At the end of 8 months, B left the business and after one year A received the profit share which is Rs.3000. What is the total profit?
Profit ratio=2500 * 12 : (1500 * 4 + 2500 * 4) : 2000*8
=30000:16000:16000
=15:8:8
Required total profit= (31/15) * 3000=Rs. 6200
The ratio of the side of the square to the breadth of the rectangle is 6:7 and the perimeter of the rectangle is equal to the perimeter of the circle. The area of the square and the length of the rectangle is 576 cm and 38 cm respectively. What is the area of the circle?
Side of the square=24 cm
Breadth of the rectangle=7/6 * 24 =28 cm
Perimeter of the rectangle=(28 + 38) * 2=132 cm
2* 22/7 * r=132
r=21 cm
Then, area of the circle=22/7 * 21 *21=1386 cm2
A milkman contains the mixture of milk and water in the ratio of 5:3. If he added 22 liters of milk and 15 liters of water in the mixture, then the ratio becomes 8:5. Find the initial quantity of the milk.
(5x + 22)/(3x + 15)=8/5
25x + 110 = 24x + 120
x= 10 liters
Initial quantity of the milk=5 * 10=50 liters
