    If the number of male passengers in bus in C and A is equal and the total number of male passengers in bus A and C together is 600, then what is the ratio of the number of female passengers in A to C?

    Solutions

    Total number of passengers in A = 20/100 * 2500 = 500

    Total number of male passengers in A = 600/2 = 300

    Number of female passengers in A = 500 – 300 = 200

    Total number of passengers in C = 16/100 * 2500 = 400

    Number of female passengers in C = 400 – 300 = 100

    Required ratio = 200:100 = 2:1

    If the number of passengers in bus F is 500, then the number of passengers in D is what percent of the total number of passengers in all the six buses together?

    Solutions

    Total number of passengers = 2500 + 500 = 3000

    Number of passengers in D = 24/100 * 2500 = 600

    Required percentage = 600/3000 * 100 = 20%

    What is the average number of passengers in A, C and D together?

    Solutions

    Required average = (24 + 16 + 20)/300 * 2500 = 500

  • Question 5/10

    Seven students in the class and the average weight of the students is 47 kg. If the average weight of first four students in the class is 36 kg and the average weight of last four students in the class is 55.25 kg, then what is the weight of 4th students in the class?

    Solutions

    Total weight of the class = 47 * 7 = 329

    Total Weight of first 4 students = 36 * 4 = 144

    Total weight of last 4 students = 55.25 * 4 = 221

    Weight of 4th students in the class = (144 + 221) – 329 = 36 kg

  • Question 6/10
    1 / -0

    If the marked price of the article is 14(2/7)% more than the cost price of the article and the shopkeeper allows the discount of 6.25% on marked price of the article while he gets the profit of Rs.200, then find the selling price of the article?

    Solutions

    CP of the article = x

    MP of the article = x * 800/700 = 8x/7

    8x/7 * 93.75/100 = x + 200

    750x/700 = x + 200

    750x = 700x + 140000

    x = Rs.2800

    SP = 2800 + 200 = Rs.3000

  • Question 7/10

    A and B together can complete the work in 20 days and B and C together can complete the work in 60 days and C alone complete the work in 120 days. In how many days A and C together can complete the work?

    Solutions

    A + B together can complete the work = 20 days

    B + C together can complete the work = 60 days

    C alone complete the work = 120 days

    B alone complete the work = 1/60 – 1/120 = 1/120

    A alone complete the work = 1/20 - 1/120

    = 1/24

    A + C together can complete work = 1/24 + 1/120

    = 1/20

  • Question 8/10

    Train A crosses a man standing in the platform in 27 seconds and train A crosses train B running in opposite direction in 14.4 seconds. If speed of train B is 60 kmph is more than the speed of train A and the length of the train A is 300 m, then find the length of train B?

    Solutions

    Speed of the train A * 5/18 = 300/27

    Speed of train A = 40 kmph

    Speed of train B = 40 + 60 = 100 kmph

    300 + Length of train B = (100 + 40) * 5/18 * 14.4

    Length of train B = 260 m

  • Question 9/10
    1 / -0

    A and B started the business and the initial investment of B is 25% more than the initial investment of A. After 8 months A added Rs.2000 for his initial investment and the ratio of the profit share of A and B in the business at the end of year is 8:9, then what is the difference between initial investment of A and B?

    Solutions

    Initial investment of A = 4x

    Initial investment of B = 4x * 125/100 = 5x

    Profit ratio of A and B = (4x * 8 + (4x + 2000) * 4):(5x * 12) = 8:9

    According to the question,

    (32x + 16x + 8000) / (5x * 12) = (8 / 9)

    (32x + 16x + 8000) * 9 = 8 * (5x * 12)

    432x + 72000 = 480x

    x = Rs.1500

    Required Difference = Rs.1500

  • Question 10/10
    1 / -0

    Renu invests Rs.7000 in compound interest at the rate of 10% per annum in 2 years and David invests Rs.4000 in simple interest at the rate x% per annum for 4 years. If the David received the interest is Rs.450 more than the interest received by Renu, then find the value of x?

    Solutions

    CI received by Renu = 7000 * (1 + 10/100)2 – 7000 = Rs.1470

    SI received by David = 1470 + 450 = Rs.1920

    1920 = 4000 * x * 4/100

    x = 12%
