    Statement:
    The principal announced that students who score more than 95% will get special prize and medal. Kevin scored 96% but was found to have cheated in some of the exams.

    Conclusions:
    I.
    Kevin is going to get special prize and medal.
    II. Kevin might not get any prize.

    Solutions

    Only students who rightfully earned the marks will get the prize and the medal. Kevin was found to be cheating and hence he didn’t rightfully earn the mark. So he may not be awarded the prize and medal. This cancels the probability of conclusion I. Conclusion II is just the opposite of I and when I does not follow, conclusion II follows.

    Hence, option B is the correct answer.

    The average of five numbers is 34.4. The average of the first and the second number is 46.5. The average of the fourth and the fifth number is 18. What is the third number?
    Solutions
    Given,
    Average of five numbers = 34.4
    ⇒ Total of Five Numbers = 34.4×5 = 172

    and
    Average of first two numbers = 46.5
    ⇒ Total of first two Numbers = 46.5×2 = 93

    also,
    Average of last two numbers = 18
    ⇒ Total of last two Numbers = 18×2 = 36

    So,
    Third number = Total of Five numbers – Total of first two numbers – Total of last two numbers

    = 172 – 93 – 36 = 43

    A buys an article listed at ₹ 1200 and gets successive discounts of 10% and 20%. He spends 10% of his cost price on transport. At what price should he sell the article to earn a profit of 15%?
    Solutions
    Given,
    MRP of the article = 1200
    First Discount = 10%
    Price after First Discount = 1200 − 10% of 1200 = 1200 − 120 = 1080

    Second Discount = 20%
    Price after Second Discount = 1080 − 20% of 1080 = 1080 − 216 = 864

    Now, Expenses on transport = 10%
    So, Effective Cost Price = 864 + 10% of 864 = 864 + 86.4 = 950.4

    So, Selling Price for 15% Profit:
    = 950.4 + 15% of 950.4 = 950.4 + 142.56 = Rs.1092.96

    The population of a village is 1,00,000. If the population increases at 10% per annum, then the population at the start of the third year is:
    Solutions
    Start of 3rd year means,
    T = 2 years

    For Successive Changes-
    Final Population P = P0(1 + R1/100)(1 + R2/100).....
    Here, P0 = Initial Population = 10000
    R= R= 10%

    So,
    P = 10000(1 + 10/100)(1 + 10/100)
    P =10000×(110/100)×(110/100)
    P = 121000
