After the death of Rajyavardhana, Harshavardhana ascended the throne of Thaneswar at the age of 16 in 606 AD. Harsha was also known as Shiladitya. He assumed the title of Parambhattaraka Naresh. There was a war between Harsha and Pulakeshin-II on the banks of river Narmada, in which, Harsha was defeated. The Chinese traveller Xuanzang came to India during Harshavardhana's reign.

The traveller of Italy, Nicolo Conti, came on a visit to Vijayanagara during the reign of Devaraya I. Devaraya I (1406–1422 AD) was the de facto successor of the Vijayanagara Empire after Harihar II. He faced the invasion of the Bahmani Sultan Ferozeshah during his reign. Devaraya I had to face internal rebellions in his time as well, but eventually, he succeeded in suppressing them. After defeating Firoz Shah Bahmani, Devaraya I married his daughter to Firoz Shah.

The term ‘acid rain’ refers to the deposition of wet or dry acidic materials from the atmosphere on the earth’s surface. Emissions from the industries are the major source of sulphur dioxide whereas those from vehicles are  major source of nitrogen dioxide. These emissions mixed with atmospheric moisture form sulphuric acid and nitric acid which precipitate on earth in form of Acid rain.

Acid rain tends to make ocean water acidic which destroys the coral reefs. Coral reefs are tropical rainforest of oceans that capture a huge amount of carbon dioxide thereby combating climate change. The decline in coral reefs may hasten climate change. Acidic conditions affect the reproductive capabilities of fish, resulting in a slow decline in the fish population. This also reduces biodiversity.

Due to the rise in the cost of production of goods, when the prices of goods are raised, it is called cost-induced inflation. Inflation resulting from excessive currency issuance is called 'moving inflation'. Inflation resulting from excessive credit issuance by commercial banks as a result of the liberal lending policy is called credit inflation. Rising prices due to the fast-rising currency activity as a result of rapidly increasing demand for goods and services generate demand-induced inflation.
