  • Question 1/10
    2 / -0.5

The second number in the given number-pairs is obtained by performing certain mathematical operation(s) on the first number. The same operation(s) is/are followed in all the number-pairs except one. Find that odd number-pair.

    Solutions

    Logic : (1st number × 3) + 3 = 2nd number

    So,

    • Option - (1) : 2 : 9

    2 × 3 + 3 = 9

    6 + 3 = 9

    9 = 9 (LHS = RHS)

    • Option - (2) : 6 : 21

    6 × 3 + 3 = 21

    18 + 3 = 21

    21 = 21 (LHS = RHS)

    • Option - (3) : 10 : 33

    10 × 3 + 3 = 33

    30 + 3 = 33

    33 = 33 (LHS = RHS)

    • Option - (4) : 8 : 29

    8 × 3 + 3 = 29

    24 + 3 = 29

    27 ≠ 29 (LHS ≠ RHS)

Hence, "Option - (4)" is the correct answer.

  • Question 3/10
    2 / -0.5

Select the correct combination of mathematical signs to sequentially replace the * signs and to balance the given equation.

    25 * 82 * 12 * 6 * 8 * 91

    Solutions

Here, we use the BODMAS table given below:

    Given:

    ⇒ 25 * 82 * 12 * 6 * 8 * 91

    (1) -, ×, +, ÷, =

    ⇒ 25 * 82 * 12 * 6 * 8 * 91

    After putting the signs:

    ⇒ 25 - 82 × 12 + 6 ÷ 8 = 91

    Apply BODMAS rule:

    ⇒ 25 - 82 × 12 + 0.75

    ⇒ 25 - 984 + 0.75

    ⇒ 25.75 - 984 = (-958.25)

Here, the equation is not satisfied.

    (2) ÷, +, -, ×, =

    ⇒ 25 * 82 * 12 * 6 * 8 * 91

    After putting the signs:

    ⇒ 25 ÷ 82 + 12 - 6 × 8 = 91

    Apply BODMAS rule:

    ⇒ 0.304 + 12 - 6 × 8

    ⇒ 0.304 + 12 - 48

    ⇒ 12.304 - 48 = (-35.69)

Here, the equation is not satisfied.

    (3) +, -, ÷, ×, =

    ⇒ 25 * 82 * 12 * 6 * 8 * 91

    After putting the signs:

    ⇒ 25 + 82 - 12 ÷ 6 × 8 = 91

    Apply BODMAS rule:

    ⇒ 25 + 82 - 2 × 8

    ⇒ 25 + 82 - 16

    ⇒ 107 - 16 = 91

    ⇒ '25 + 82 - 12 ÷ 6 × 8 = 91'

    Here, the equation is satisfied.

    (4) ×, +, ÷, -, =

    ⇒ 25 * 82 * 12 * 6 * 8 * 91

    After putting the signs:

    ⇒ 25 × 82 + 12 ÷ 6 - 8 = 91

    Apply BODMAS rule:

    ⇒ 25 × 82 + 2 - 8

    ⇒ 2050 + 2 - 8

    ⇒ 2052 - 8 = 2044

Here, the equation is not satisfied.

Hence, the correct answer is "Option (3)".

  • Question 4/10

The second number in the given number pairs is obtained by performing certain mathematical operation(s) on the first number. The same operation(s) are followed in all the number pairs, EXCEPT one. Find that odd number pair.

    Solutions

    Logic : (1st number) × (1st Number - 1)2 = 2nd Number

    • Option 01 : (7, 252)

    7 × 62 = 7 × 36 = 252

    • Option 02 : (6, 216)

    6 × 62 = 6 × 36 = 216

    • Option 03 : (8, 392)

    8 × 72 = 8 × 49 = 392

    • Option 04 : (5, 80)

    5 × 42 = 5 × 16 = 80

∴ Option 02 is the odd number pair.

Three of the following words are alike in some manner and hence form a group. Which word does NOT belong to that group? (The words must be considered as meaningful English words and must not be grouped based on the number of letters/number of consonants/vowels in the word)

    Solutions

The three words that belong to the same group are Clarinet, Flute, and Piccolo because they are all musical instruments that are played by blowing into them.

On the other hand, Piano is a musical instrument that is played by pressing keys on a keyboard, which is different from the other three instruments.

Therefore, option 3 (Piano) does not belong to the same group as the other three words.

Hence, the correct answer is "Option 3".

  • Question 9/10

Select the correct combination of mathematical signs to sequentially replace the * signs and balance the given equation.

    268 * 4 * 8 * 5 * 14 = 41

    Solutions

    Given : 268 * 4 * 8 * 5 * 14 = 41

According to the question, by replacing the *signs :

    So,

    • Option - (1) : + × − ÷

    268 + 4 × 8 − 5 ÷ 14 = 41

    268 + × 8 − 0.35 = 41

    268 + 32 - 0.35 = 41

    300 - 0.35 = 41

    299.65 ≠ 41 (LHS ≠ RHS)

    • Option - (2) : × ÷ + −

    268 × 4 ÷ 8 + 5 − 14 = 41

    268 × 0.5 + 5 - 14 = 41

    134 + 5 - 14 = 41

    139 - 14 = 41

    125 ≠ 41 (LHS ≠ RHS)

    • Option - (3) : ÷ × + −

    268 ÷ 4 × 8 + 5 − 14 = 41

    67 × 8 + 5 − 14 = 41

    536 + 5 - 14 = 41

    541 - 14 = 41

    527 ≠ 41 (LHS ≠ RHS)

    • Option - (4) : ÷ − × +

    268 ÷ 4 − 8 × 5 + 14 = 41

    67 − × 5 + 14 = 41

    67 + 14 - 40 = 41

    81 - 40 = 41

    41 = 41 (LHS = RHS)

Hence, "Option - (4)" is the correct answer.

  • Question 10/10

Each of A, B, C, D, E, F and G has an exam on a different day of a week starting from Monday and ending on Sunday of the same week. A has an exam on Wednesday. Only one person has an exam between A and B. D has an exam on the day immediately before B. Only one person has an exam between F and B. G’s exam is on one of the days before A but on one of the days after C. On which day does G have an exam?

    Solutions

Given : Each of A, B, C, D, E, F and G has an exam on a different day of a week starting from Monday and ending on Sunday of the same week.

    Explanation :

    1) A has an exam on Wednesday.

    2) Only one person has an exam between A and B.

As, Position of B with respect to A is not clear, therefore there are two possibilities for the position of B.

    3) D has an exam on the day immediately before B.

    4) Only one person has an exam between F and B.

As D has an exam on the day immediately before B. Therefore Case- 1 is eliminated as there is no position for D.

    5) G’s exam is on one of the days before A but on one of the days after C.

After positioning C and G, only one position is left which will be occupied by the only person left i;e E.

Thus, according to the final arrangement G has exam on Tuesday.

Hence, "Tuesday" is the correct answer.
