RPF Constable Recruitment Process

There are five stages involved in the RPF Constable Examination selection process.

• Computer Based Test
• Physical Efficiency Test and Physical Measurement Test
• Document Verification

Computer Based Test

The standard of examination as noticed in the RPF Constable previous year question paper is of 10th/ Matric level. The pattern and syllabus of CBT is as follows:

• Total Duration is 90 minutes and Total Questions is 120.
• You will be awarded 1 mark for each right answer and no marks will be given for unattempted questions. 
• There shall be a negative marking of ⅓ marks for each wrong answer. 
• The normalization of marks will be done for Computed Based Tests held in multiple shifts. 
• The minimum pass percentage for eligibility is
  • UR, EWS, and OBC-NCL: 35%
  • SC and ST: 30%
• The marks that you score in the CBT will be counted for your shortlisting in further stages of this recruitment process. 

Syllabus Of CBT

• General Intelligence and Reasoning: Questions on Analogies, Similarities and Differences, Spatial Visualization, Spatial Orientation, Problem-Solving Analysis, Judgement, Decision Making, Visual Memory, Discriminating observation, Relationship concepts, Arithmetical Reasoning, Verbal & Figure classification, Arithmetic number series, Non-verbal series, Coding and Decoding, Statement- Conclusion, Syllogistic reasoning, etc.

• General Awareness: Questions will be aimed at testing your general awareness of the environment around you and its application to society; to test knowledge of current events and such matters of everyday observation and experience as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to Indian History, Art and Culture, Geography, Economics, General Polity, Indian Constitution, Sports, General Science, etc.

Physical Efficiency Test and Physical Measurement Test

You will be called for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Measurement Test (PMT) on the basis of your score in the Computer Based Test. A maximum of two rounds will be conducted for PET and PMT for all the shortlisted candidates. It is mandatory for you to pass the Physical Efficiency Test. This test is qualifying in nature and no marks are awarded for it. The criteria for PET and PMT are mentioned in the tables below.

• For the 1600/800 meters event, only one chance will be given. For the remaining events like Long Jump and High Jump, you will be given up to 2 chances each.
• Ex-servicemen will be exempted from PET, however, they will have to undergo PMT. 
• You must qualify in all tests as per the above norms to be eligible for consideration. 
• Male candidates who do not have the minimum height will not be considered for chest measurement and will be treated as disqualified. 
• All the candidates qualifying in 1600/800 meters will be measured for eligibility with respect to height and chest. The measurement of the chest will be taken for male candidates only. 
• In case you do not have minimum height or chest, then you will be treated as failed in the PMT. 

Document Verification

• Based on your performance in the CBT and subject to your qualifying in PET/PMT, you will be considered for Document Verification. 
• Candidates from SC, ST, OBC-NCL, and EWS selected purely on merit, without availing any relaxation available, will be counted against UR vacancies. In cases of two or more candidates securing the same marks, their merit position will be determined by age criteria i.e. older person will be given higher seniority.
• Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing the requisite Medical Fitness Test, final verification of educational and category certificates, verification of character and antecedents of the candidates from the local Administration, and successful completion of initial training.
• You will not be considered for the final selection if you do not appear for Document Verification. 
• You have to submit all your original documents along with two sets of self-attested photocopies at the time of Document Verification. 
• Furthermore, you have to upload the scanned copies of your photo and signature before your Document Verification date through the official portal. 
• In case you do not produce your original certificates on the date of Document Verification, then you will be given no extra time and your candidature is liable to be forfeited. 

Medical Examination

After Document Verification, if you get placed in the final result, then you will be sent for a medical examination at the Railway Hospitals. You will have to qualify in the medical category ‘B-1’ as prescribed in the Indian Railway Medical Manual. If you wear glasses or have flat feet, knocked knees, squint eyes, color blindness, and other bodily infirmities, then you are not eligible for an appointment. Sending for a Medical Examination will not guarantee employment and does not imply that you are included in the select list.

Training

Once selected, you have to undergo rigorous initial training in any one of the Railway Protection Force training centers or any other such institution as decided by the Railway Administration. At the end of the training, you have to pass a final examination. This exam is a must for the appointment to the Force.
