The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has once again opened the online portal for applications to appear for the 22nd edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET). Those eligible candidates who missed out on applying in the first round can now apply from August 25 to September 1, 2026. A public notice was released by the CBSE on August 25, citing that it is due to the Supreme Court directive to give a reasonable chance to eligible teachers to meet the mandatory criteria of qualifying for the TET. Why Has CBSE Reopened the Application Window?

This information is crucial for all those candidates who have applied for the CTET exam in September 2026. It is advisable for all those candidates to review the notice.

Already Applied? You Don't Need to Do Anything

This should be stated explicitly to avoid any misunderstandings.

If you submitted your application successfully from 11 May to 10 June 2026, there is no need to submit your application again. The application that was submitted initially still counts. The reopening of the application period is only meant for those people who failed to submit their applications initially. Do not submit a new form, as it would not help at all.

How to Apply for CTET 2026

If you're applying in this reopened window, here's the process:

Go to the official website, ctet.nic.in.
Click on the CTET Apply Online link and select New Registration.
Fill in your basic details to generate your application number and password.
Log in with those credentials.
Complete your personal details, academic qualifications, and paper preference.
Upload your scanned photograph and signature in the prescribed format.
Pay the application fee online through net banking, debit or credit card, or UPI.
Download and save the confirmation page and application summary.

Don't leave it to the last day. Portals slow down badly near the deadline, and 1 September is a hard cut-off.

Qualifying Marks

Minimum scores of 60 percent are necessary for those who want to qualify under the general category, which translates into 90 marks out of 150. On the other hand, those belonging to reserved categories must obtain 82 marks out of 150.

Why CTET Matters

The CTET exam acts as a qualifying condition for teaching jobs in central government schools such as Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and Army schools from class I to class VIII. Some of the state teacher selection exams either accept or make it mandatory for the candidate to have CTET clearance. Once obtained, the validity period of the CTET certificate is for the lifetime of the candidate.
