RRB ALP Vacancy 2025

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has announced the 9970 Assistant Loco Pilot vacancies to be filled through RRB ALP Recruitment 2025. RRB ALP Vacancy has been announced for all 21 RRBs. The region-wise and category-wise RRB ALP Vacancy 2025 will be notified with the release of the official notification PDF.

RRB ALP 2025 Eligibility Criteria

RRB ALP Educational Qualification

The candidates who apply for the post of RRB ALP must have the following minimum educational qualifications to be eligible for the respective posts:

Assistant Loco Pilot Educational Qualification

Matriculation / SSLC, ITI from recognised institutions of NCVT/SCVT in the trades of Armature and Coil Winder / Electrician / Electronics Mechanic / Fitter / Heat Engine / Instrument Mechanic / Machinist / Mechanic Diesel / Mechanic Motor Vehicle / Millwright Maintenance Mechanic / Mechanic Radio & TV / Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Mechanic / Tractor Mechanic / Turner / Wireman

OR 
Matriculation / SSLC, Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the trades mentioned above

OR 
3 years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile Engineering

OR
A combination of various streams of these Engineering disciplines from a recognised Institution instead of ITI.

Candidates with a Degree in the Engineering disciplines mentioned above can also apply.

RRB ALP Age Limit (as on 01/07/2025)

The age of the applicants for the post of RRB ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot) must be within the age limit as specified between 18 to 30 years as on 01/07/2025, which means you must fall in this age group at the time of application. The candidates should have been born between the years as mentioned in the table to be eligible to apply for RRB ALP Recruitment 2025.

Physical and Medical Standard Requirement

It is important for the candidates who are planning to take the RRB ALP 2025 exam to be fit both physically and medically. The Medical Standard should be A-1, and the eye vision of the candidates should be as per the data tabulated below.

Selection Process

The candidates will be selected as per the RRB ALP Recruitment 2025 Selection Process guidelines. Railway Zone and RRB-wise vacancies are released along with the notification PDF. Candidates can choose only one RRB and indicate their preference for the Railway zones. The post-wise selection process with stages has been tabulated below-

CBT 1

  • Duration: 60 minutes

  • Subjects: Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, Current Affairs.

  • Negative Marking: ⅓ mark deduction per wrong answer.

RRB ALP CBT 2 Exam Pattern

RRB ALP 2025 CBT 2 will also be conducted in online mode. The total time duration for the CBT 2 exam is 2 hours and 30 minutes. There will be two parts to the CBT 2 exam which are Part A and Part B. Part A covers questions from Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness of Current Affairs and Part B will be based on Relevant Trades. Marking Scheme: 1 mark for each correct answer, negative marking of ⅓ mark for each incorrect answer.

Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) 

Candidates who clear the CBT 2 and 2 exams will be called for round 3, i.e., Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), and after that final selection list will be prepared. There shall be no negative marking in the Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) round.

RRB ALP Salary Structure

As per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) pay scale, the starting salary for an Assistant Loco Pilot ranges from Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 35,000 per month. This amount may vary depending on the place of posting and other allowances. The selected candidates will be entitled to Level 2 of the Pay Matrix Level 2, with an initial pay scale of INR 19,900 along with other allowances, including-

  1. House Rent Allowance (HRA)
  2. Dearness Allowance (DA)
  3. Running Allowance (Based on the km travelled)
  4. Transport Allowance
  5. New Pension Scheme (10% Deduction) etc.
