What to Carry to the Exam Centre
Pack these the night before:
-
Printed copy of the e-admit card
-
Original photo ID, the same one whose number you entered in your application
-
A photocopy of that ID
-
Black ballpoint pen
-
Recent passport-size photographs, in case they're asked for
Leave mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, and any other electronic device behind. Most centres don't offer storage, and carrying a banned item can cost you the exam.
Tips for Exam Day
Start from the Centre early on. Traffic, new routes, and huge lines for entry have spoiled more efforts than difficult question papers ever could. If the Centre is a place that you are not familiar with, you can try taking an early look at the route the day before. Go through the instructions mentioned in your admit card. These will include reporting time, entry closing time, and also things that are not to be brought inside. Sleep properly the night before. It is much better to attempt the General Knowledge paper when you have had sufficient rest.
Final Word
Download your admit card now and go through it word by word. The smallest mistakes, such as an incorrect ID number and failure to report at the right time, can create bigger problems than you realize on the day of examination. In case of any changes, please visit the UPSC site for clarifications.
