UPSEE Question Papers
UPSEE was considered easier than JEE Main; however, as of 2027, the exam has transitioned from a standalone state-level test into the national-level entrance tests: JEE Main and CUET. Now, B.Tech aspirants need to prepare for JEE Main, but practising with UPSEE question papers is still relevant in some aspects, such as building the habit of answering questions, revising concepts through problem-solving, and improving speed and accuracy with each practice session.
In this, we are covering the UPSEE PYQs so that you can better understand the legacy of the Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination, also known as UPTU or UPCET.
UPSEE Question Papers With Answer Keys
Experts at Mockers have collected and solved all the questions to provide you with UPSEE exam question papers. These practice sets can be used to self-evaluate your foundational coverage for PCM subjects as a B.Tech aspirant.
The UPSEE question papers with answer keys are ideal for cross-checking how many of your responses were correct, but the detailed solutions or explanations provided with the practice test are helpful to understand your mistakes, from conceptual errors to silly mistakes. Solutions allow you to identify the weak areas that need to be fixed before the actual exam. Access the solutions once you finish or submit the test set online.
Year-Wise UPSEE PYQs
The UPSEE exam was officially cancelled starting from the 2021-22 academic session. However, we have a collection of UPSEE question papers solved with answers from 2010 to 2019. Mockers provides you with online tests individually for every year, so that you can attempt full-length exam papers in an online test environment. You even get the solutions with explanations after submitting your test set to learn about the areas that need more improvement. Using this study resource, you can enhance your overall preparation and strengthen your foundation for engineering subjects—Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
When reviewing your performance in the UPSEE past year question papers, jot down all the mistakes you’ve made to cover them later during a revision session. Despite the discontinuation of UPSEE, practising the year-wise question papers helps you boost speed, accuracy, and your overall grasp of core topics such as Calculus in Maths, General Organic Chemistry, Modern Physics, etc. Take one test at a time for more effective practice and exam preparation.

UPSEE Exam Pattern
The UPSEE old question papers for B.Tech (Paper 1) were designed to test speed and clarity on foundational topics across Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Questions were derived from the UP Board/NCERT Class 11 and 12 syllabus. Here is the UPSEE exam pattern (Legacy B.Tech):
| Particulars | Details |
| Exam Mode | Offline (Pen and Paper-based OMR) |
| Test Duration | 3 Hours (180 Minutes) |
| Total Questions | 150 Questions (50 per subject) |
| Total Marks | 600 Marks |
| Marking Scheme | +4 for every correct answer; No Negative Marking |
| Medium | English and Hindi |
UPSEE Question Papers Analysis & Trends
UPSEE was considered easier than JEE Main, but due to the number of questions, strong time-management skills were required. Here is an analysis and trends report based on the UPSEE past year papers online tests:
- Syllabus: The UP Board/NCERT Class 11 and 12 syllabus was followed strictly to prepare the UPSEE question papers.
- Distribution of Difficulty: Historically, the paper consisted of approximately 35–40% easy, 40–45% medium, and 15–20% difficult questions.
- Important Topics: Physics and Chemistry questions often appeared to be formula-based. However, Mathematics was more emphasised on Class 12 topics such as Calculus and Vectors.
- Class Weightage: Roughly 70–75% from the Class 12 syllabus and the remaining from Class 11.
Top 10 Highest-Weightage Chapters of UPSEE
Based on the analysis of the online question papers with answers for UPSEE (prior to discontinuation), the highest number of questions were asked from these chapters across the three subjects.
| Rank | Subject | Chapter/Topic | Importance Level |
| 1 | Maths | Integral Calculus (Definite/Indefinite) | Very High |
| 2 | Maths | Coordinate Geometry (Circles & Conics) | Very High |
| 3 | Physics | Modern Physics (Atoms, Nuclei, Dual Nature) | High |
| 4 | Chemistry | General Organic Chemistry (GOC) | High |
| 5 | Maths | Matrices and Determinants | High |
| 6 | Physics | Current Electricity & Electrostatics | High |
| 7 | Chemistry | Chemical Bonding & Molecular Structure | Moderate-High |
| 8 | Physics | Heat and Thermodynamics | Moderate-High |
| 9 | Chemistry | p-Block Elements | Moderate-High |
| 10 | Maths | Vector and 3D Geometry | Moderate-High |

How to Use UPSEE Old Question Papers as an Engineering Aspirant
Treat UPSEE question papers with answer keys as a warm-up session. You can use them for various purposes, such as to revise formulas, build speed, and gain confidence in answering exam questions, or if any specific topic feels overwhelming. Here are some strategic methods to use these exam papers to gain a competitive edge:

1. To Balance Speed & Accuracy
UPSEE question papers solved with answers were designed to assess a candidate's decision-making ability under a strict time frame. About 72 seconds per question were allowed in the exam, and there were 150 questions to solve in 180 minutes. Solving these papers under time-bound conditions allows you to improve speed, where you should aim for 90% accuracy since you are no longer preparing for UPTU, but the JEE Main exam. You can also take the benefit of no negative marking while practising the online tests by doing educated guessing or using the process of elimination for questions you aren't 100% sure about.
2. Remove the Gap Between Knowing the Concept and Applying It
JEE Main questions are often designed in a multi-layered way. However, UPSEE questions were usually single-concept applications. If you find a topic (like Rotational Mechanics or Ionic Equilibrium) difficult in your JEE preparation, go back to the online question papers with answers for UPSEE. Even solving 10–15 UPSEE-level questions on that topic will strengthen your grasp of formulas before you move towards challenging questions. Also, take the benefit of time-bound exam pressure while attempting the online UPSEE past year question papers to recall formulas under pressure.
3. Prepare for Important Chapters that Appear Across All Engineering Entrances
Based on the last five years of UPSEE trends analysis, there are certain chapter clusters that appear across all engineering entrances. Use the UPSEE old question papers to master these:
| Subject | Topic Cluster to Master |
| Physics | Modern Physics & Semiconductors |
| Chemistry | Organic Conversions & Name Reactions |
| Maths | Coordinate Geometry (2D) |
Conclusion
UPSEE past year papers online tests may belong to a discontinued exam, but their value in preparation still remains strong. With these papers, your basics can be improved, your speed will gradually improve, and you will be more confident in solving questions under time pressure—this is a skill that is equally important for the JEE Main exam. However, the only key point to remember is to use the PYQs to practise questions, strengthen concepts, minimise mistakes, and remove the gap between theory and application.
