What's This Recruitment About?

SSC conducts this exam every year to recruit General Duty Constables for central armed forces. We're talking BSF, CISF, CRPF, SSB, ITBP, Assam Rifles, SSF, and Narcotics Control Bureau.

The post names vary slightly – Constable GD, Rifleman GD, or Sepoy depending on which force you end up in. But the exam and process is the same for all.

How Many Vacancies?

This year it's 25487 posts. That's a solid number. Both male and female candidates can apply.

Important Dates to Remember

Event Date
Notification Released December 1, 2025
Application Started December 1, 2025
Last Date to Apply December 31, 2025 (11 PM)
Fee Payment Deadline January 1, 2026 (11 PM)
Correction Window January 8-10, 2026
Admit Card 4 days before exam
Exam Dates February-April 2026

Mark these dates somewhere. Missing the deadline means waiting another whole year.

Who Can Apply?

Pretty straightforward eligibility:

Education – You need to have passed Class 10 from a recognized board. That's it. No graduation required.

Age – Between 18 and 23 years. There's age relaxation for reserved categories as per government rules.

Citizenship – Indian citizen obviously.

What's the Selection Process?

You don't just clear one exam and get the job. There are multiple stages:

Stage 1 – Computer Based Test (online written exam)

Stage 2 – Physical Efficiency Test (running, long jump, etc.)

Stage 3 – Physical Standard Test (height and chest measurements)

Stage 4 – Document Verification and Medical Examination

Clear all four and you're in.

How Much is the Application Fee?

Hardly anything actually.

Category Fee
General/OBC/EWS Rs 100
SC/ST Free
Women (all categories) Free
Ex-Servicemen Free

So if you're a woman or belong to reserved category, you pay nothing. General category folks just need to shell out a hundred bucks.

How to Apply Online?

Here's the step-by-step:

First, go to ssc.gov.in and find the GD Constable section. If you're new to SSC, you'll need to do One-Time Registration first. Fill in your basic details like name, mobile, email, and ID proof.

Once registered, log in with your Registration ID and password. Select the SSC GD Constable 2026 form and start filling.

Enter your personal info, educational details, and communication address. Be careful here – wrong information can get your form rejected.

Upload your photo and signature. Photo should be 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm and between 20-50 KB. Signature should be 4 cm x 2 cm and between 10-20 KB.

Preview everything once before submitting. Pay the fee through net banking, UPI, or card. Download the confirmation page and keep it safe.

Documents You'll Need

Keep these ready before starting:

  • Valid mobile number and email ID
  • Aadhar Card, Voter ID, PAN, Passport, or Driving License
  • Class 10 details – board name, roll number, passing year
  • Disability certificate (if applicable)
  • Passport size photo and signature in correct dimensions

What's the Salary?

Selected candidates get Pay Level-3 which ranges from Rs 21,700 to Rs 69,100. Plus you get all the allowances that come with central government jobs – DA, HRA, and other benefits depending on posting location.

Correction Window Available

Made a mistake in your form? Relax. SSC is giving a correction window from January 8 to 10, 2026. You can fix errors during this period. But don't rely on it too much – better to get things right the first time.

Quick Tips

Fill the form on a laptop or computer. Phones can cause formatting issues.

Double-check your photo and signature sizes before uploading. Wrong dimensions lead to rejection.

Pay the fee before December 31 but remember the payment deadline extends to January 1. Still, don't wait till the last moment.

Start preparing for the written exam now. Competition is tough with lakhs of applicants every year.
